DRAWING
Develop and expand observational abilities and rendering skills through exposure to various drawing media.  Study line, shape, volume, texture, perspective, light, shadow, proportion, and compositional space while experimenting with layering and blending while working with pencil, charcoal, pen, and ink.

PAINTING
Develop skills in various mediums by painting from still life, natural forms, interiors, the human figure, and abstract exploration.  Study line, shape, volume, texture, perspective, value, proportion, color, and compositional space while learning painting techniques of blending, textural under painting, glazing, and transparency are covered while working with watercolor, acrylic, and oil.

LIFE DRAWING & PAINTING
Explore both contemporary and traditional approaches to the figure while improving drawing techniques.  Figure structure, anatomy, and proportion while expanding the vocabulary of line and tone are covered.  Students explore composition, negative space, interaction of form and content, and the human figure’s mood, gesture, drama, and attitudes while experimenting with layering, blending, and color building.  Media of pencil, charcoal, pen, colored chalk, and ink are used.

DRAWING & PAINTING - REALISTIC STYLE
Learn highly realistic style of figurative, portrait , and still-life drawing and painting.

STRUCTURAL ANATOMY
Introduction to anatomy for the arts through basic, portraiture, and figure drawing.  Practical and academic applications in rendering the human figure.  Develop understanding of visual information by identifying linear-structural relationships between proportion: massing; planar direction; and artistic anatomy, in addition to deconstructing light, value, and form.

CLAY HANDBUILDING & SCULPTURE
Experience modeling, carving, construction and mold making.  Explore ceramics as art making material using handbuilding techniques such as slab, coil, and molding, including glazing and processes.  Study formal expressive elements such as line, volume, mass, surface, color, texture, and space. 

3D DESIGN - SCULPTURE
Introduction to 3-dimensional design.  Learn to create form employing compositional elements in 3D space. Gain experience with mixing materials and sculpting pieces.  Study formal expressive elements such as line, volume, mass, surface, color, texture, and space.

CLAY WHEELTHROWING
Ceramics as an art making material emphasizing the use of the potters wheel to develop forms.  Study includes glazing and firing.  Students learn line, volume, mass, surface, color, texture, and space.

WATERCOLOR PAINTING
Explore use of watercolor painting techniques, mixing colors, and composition. Classroom demonstrations; all levels welcome.

MIXED MEDIA/COLLAGE
Experiment with a variety of acrylic paints, glues, papers, fabric, tools and techniques to create interesting abstract or representational pieces.  Individual attention is given in a fun environment.  Class adapts to students interests. 

JEWELRY, DESIGN & BEADING
Design and make a personal and wearable expression of your creativity.  Learn how to make handcrafted bead jewelry with step-by-step instructions on basic color composition and design, stringing, finishing techniques, and wire wrapping.   Beginners to intermediate skill levels welcome.

CAMERA OPERATION
Gain overview of how to create a great photograph.  Learn how to effectively use your camera and expose your image.   

PHOTOGRAPHY - FINE-ART SERIES
Strengthen understanding of compositional elements, design principles, color theory, thematic expression, lighting environments, and the creative process. Learn to 'see' in new and creative ways.  Produce works of art with point-and-shoot and/or adjustable SLR cameras. All levels can improve.

PHOTO CRITIQUE
Learn about composition, proper exposure, and creative style during discussion of your own photo images. Private, comfortable, small group setting.

POETRY WRITING
Poetry can be experienced as a primal part of language and a pathway to releasing creative energy in other aspects of life. Explore the richness within language through imagery, symbols, metaphor, and wordplay to experiment, discover, and imagine ideas and concepts in new ways.

WRITING & ART
Memoirs and storytelling:  Integrate writing and visual imagery, discover our authentic voice and identify sings of grace in our lives.

CREATIVITY - ACTIVATING THE MUSE
Explore aspects of creativity thru discovering your Learning Style and developing your Five Senses of seeing, listening, touching, tasting, and smelling.  Through simple exercises, activate various areas of the brain opening up new ways of viewing the world and creating new concepts in art!

MUSIC INSTRUCTION
Lessons by Appointment:  Guitar, Banjo, Bass, Flute, Keyboard, Mandolin, Violin, in addition to Music Theory, Composition, and Arrangement.

BEGINNING DRUMMING & PERCUSSION
Learn about various instruments and how to play different sounds.  Explore rhythm techniques and start to develop sense of inner rhythm and affects on mood.  Understand Drumming Circle etiquette and how to perform within a group.
